People & other considerations.

YOU ARE POSITIVE!

You are someone positive!

This is not an interrogative.

You are someone confident.

Yet so provident.

You are optimistic.

Yet, good and realistic.

Talent! Exclamation point!

Beyond the others less adroit.

You’re not pessimistic.

You are altruistic.

MY FRIEND SUPPORTS

My friend supports me.

Knows me well and is fond of me.

Does not fault me.

Sympathizes and empathizes with me.

My friend does not point out my weaknesses.

My friend is loyal.

My friend.

I want to be like my friend.

Not like me.

FRIEND.

Social insecurity.

Heartful stress.

Hold me with sincerity.

My soul to rest.

Inferiority.

I want you not within.

Emotional austerity.

The only way I’ll win

Where are you my only friend?

Sanctuary strong.

Confidence to me please send.

To you do I belong.

Leave me not alone today.

Pray you dear and near.

Come to me without delay.

Keep me comfort from my fear.

MY FRIEND.

In you my friend I confide.

Secrets I wish not to hide.

To you my friend I confess.

Thoughts and emotions undressed.

To you my friend I am clear.

Transparent and free of all fear.

In you my friend all my trust.

As I always should and I must.

Because of you I am free.

No judgement have you given me.

You my friend are my hope,

In no other way can I cope.

On you my friend I depend.

From this moment on til the end.

THE HUMAN RACE AND THE WORLD.

Is Marxism out of date?

Or socialism our fate?

Is democracy the golden rule?

Or is communism tried and true?

Is a long-reign dictator now the norm?

Or are peoples’ voices heard reborn?

Is religion all the ring?

Or is it science and what it brings?

Are each of these the ultimate face?

Are they better than the human race?

Where have we been?

Where shall we be?

The past again?

Or tomorrow’s “we”?

KINGS AND REFUGEES

There are millions of people — migrants, immigrants, refugees — running away from wars, chaos, persecution, violence, hunger. These men, women, and children only want to maintain emotionally, mentally, spiritually. They want normalcy, a better standard of life. To get it, they risk their lives to escape their unwanted reality. In their running, all the home they have is the clothes they wear and whatever they can carry in a small sack. They have no passports, no documentation, no papers. Do they even exist?

Compared to those desperate people I live like a king. Passport. Mobile electronics. Internet. Flatscreen tv. Digital subscriptions. Car. Stores with abundance. I have a bounty of materialism. I live a king.

Many, many people without food, clothing, shelter.

Yet, I live a king.

I should be deposed. Told to let go of my materialism. To find out what might happen if I were a migrant, an immigrant.

I live like a king among refugees.

ARE WE NOT MORE?

Are we not more than insects without antennas?

Are we not more than birds without wings?

Are we not more than fish without fins?

Are we not more than trees without limbs?

The world is heating up.

Are we not more than shells without hearts?

Are we not more than useless forms without minds?

Are we not more than clay with souls?

The world is heating up. Temperatures rising.

Racial injustice; social inequality.

Democracy battered left and right.

Incurable diseases; refugee camps.

Hatred.

Are we not more than problem makers, not solvers?

The world is heating up. Temperatures rising.

Are we not more than harbingers of the World’s End?

Are we not more?

SOCIAL ANXIETY

Social anxiety.

Insecure entirely.

Emotional distress.

No time to rest.

Quiet as an introvert.

Weakened by extroverts.

Shying away to hide,

Hoping no one chides.

Social coward —

All have heard.

Running and retreating

From people and their pleading.

Social insecurity:

Shameful in obscurity.

TIME

People live like a clock

Language based on simple tock.

Peoples’ s lives a calendar

Blank until events occur.

People and their fancy watch

Helplessly to them betrothed.

People led by schedule

Not surprises so effectual.

People and appointments due

Spontaneity completely through.

People’s artificial time

Denied til the final chime.

OUR LIVES DO CROSS.

Grateful yes that we have met.

Our lives do cross in light, but yet.

Our love does burn, our friendship firm.

Heaven will our fate confirm.

You and I forever since.

Our souls do cross in angel bliss.

Grateful now let’s not forget.

Finally life and love have met.

CHILDREN.

Children die of terminal disease.

Without terminal degree.

Children die of incurable disease.

They are so young they will agree.

Others live to twenty-five.

Giving each great high five!

While children have no such jives.

In hospitals give their little lives.

Children die so young, so young.

Without learning native tongue.

While others older boast where they don’t belong.

How long will this go on?

Like wheat they should be rife.

Children and their end of life.

Young, young, they made no strife.

Heaven open, they made no vice.

THERE ARE UNIVERSALS.

There are universals

Among the variety of people

Flung across this world.

A smile.

A hug.

A kiss.

A handshake of goodwill.

A desire for a better future

For all, for children, and oneself.

There are universals.

Believing in God.

A mosque.

A temple.

A church.

A simple prayer

In the deep quiet night.

There are universals

Among all people

Flung across this world.

Yet, we are somehow made

To be villains and enemies

To each other.

There are universals.

A belief.

And that we all have hearts.

I AM AN AMERICAN.DOES IT COUNT?

I am an American.

Does it count?

Does it matter?

I live on the rich side.

In a manner of speaking.

I live in a small studio apartment.

Yet I live like a King.

While the other half of the world —

The poverty-stricken

Drought-stricken

Forgotten half of the world

Struggles on nothing.

I am an American.

Does it count?

Does it matter?

I live in a rich country.

While the other half of the world does not.

Am I proud of this?

No.

Can I give anything from

My personal pockets to help

The entire other half?

No.

But America as a whole can.

I am an American.

Land of the purported ideal.

Land of plenty. And there is much of this.

I am an American.

I am an American on a world called earth.

And so many of my fellow people

Are hurting.

WHAT IS A WALK?

What is a walk?

Alone or with special someone?

Holding hands or not?

What is a walk?

Is there talk?

To each other?

Or in fingerprint privacy

On a phone to someone else?

What is a walk with someone?

Does it still exist

To communicate

Murmur

Whisper

Small important words to another

In person?

What is a walk on a side walk,

A beach

A park.

Where has a walk and real personal talk gone?
