Environment.

CLOUDS

Ephemeral.

Evolving.

Chameleon.

Changing.

Moving.

Massive.

Gray.

Gravid.

Wispy.

Wild.

Wet.

THERE USED TO BE

There used to be natural night

Stars

Stars forever

Without street lights

Parking lot lights

City lights

We are no longer connected to the

Natural night

Natural stars

If they are seen at all.

Losing connections

To the natural wonders

Spirits

Angels

Mystery

There used to be

Natural dark

Before artificial

Superficial

Light

Not the light of natural nature

A COMMON SUN, A COMMON MOON.

A common sun, a common moon

Illuminates us all.

Stars dance in circles above us all.

Common winds ruffle our hair and clothes.

Birds chirp and sing to our delight.

Cats and dogs curl to us in quiet love.

A common life

Envelopes us, surrounds us.

Nature is no stranger to all.

We are no strangers to her.

A common sun, a common moon.

Dappling light upon our home,

This earth, this world.

BEAUTY OF THE DAY.

Beauty of the day.

I cannot ignore the beauty of the day.

Yet ethnic cleansing pushes at me.

I cannot ignore the beauty of the day.

Yet refugee camps shout to me.

I cannot ignore the beauty of the day.

Yet people animals starve.

I cannot ignore the beauty of the day.

Yet guns, bombs, bullets destroy lives.

I cannot ignore the beauty of the day.

While governments world-wide are dinosaurs.

I cannot ignore the beauty of the day.

While maimed crippled abused forgotten

Animals

Children

Oceans

Helpless

Creatures

Flounder.

I cannot ignore the beauty of the day

While God’s creations

Are stepped on

Crushed

Left to their own.

I must ignore the beauty of the day.

For today is all we have.

ENVIRONMENT.

Environment — overused word.

Such that it is no longer heard.

Environment is all that’s left.

Without it we are all bereft.

Water, soil, air and plants.

All together we should dance.

Environment a lovely trance.

Enjoy before its end advance.

Environment has a precious skill

To keep all people from an ill.

To Environment let us fulfill

A promise to a future still.

WINTER.

In winter’s sun I stood beneath

Soft and pale glowing wreath.

Trees stood naked brittle stiff

Dry leaves rattle breeze and hiss.

Beautiful, lovely day it was

When God decides to give, He does.

Enjoy enjoy do not defeat

Wondrous moments come to greet.

Within that cold of winter’s day

My love came swift without delay.

AUTUMN.

An autumn sky clear and blue

Trees are full of orange hue.

Fall is falling autumn’s here

Nature beckons us revere.

If this be fall then fall I will

Autumn love not warm but chilled.

Colored leaves fall thick and deep

Many will I pick to keep.

Fall and autumn, autumn fall

In love with nature and her all.
